Three members of our staff recently passed their exam to become qualified Low Carbon Consultants. Read on for their personal stories, and a huge well done and congratulations to each of you, what an achievement!
"As a Sustainability Specialist, I felt it was important for me to attend the Low Carbon Consultant course, to not only reinforce my existing knowledge but to provide insight into topics I am less familiar with.
The course covered a wide range of topics such as Part L compliance, energy efficiency, passive design, low carbon and renewable technologies, EPCs and DECs.
Having now passed my LCC exam, I am even more equipped to continue providing new and existing clients with invaluable advice to meet and exceed Part L requirements by minimising energy use and carbon emissions from buildings, both in design and operation."
Rimesh Patel MEng, Sustainability Specialist
"With the completion of my MSc in Sustainable Energy Systems last year the next logical step for me was to be attend the Low Carbon Consultant course and progress on the route for energy assessing and EPC production.
The course itself was fairly hard going with 1.5 days of intense training culminating in an exam during the afternoon of the final day. The main points covered on the course were Building Regulations Approved Document Part L, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, legislative frameworks, energy performance certification, low & zero carbon technologies.
Now that we have all passed the course we can register ourselves as Low Carbon Consultants with CIBSE and proceed onto becoming Energy Assessors."
Antony Brown BEng (Hons) MSc, Senior Mechanical Engineer
"Nearly 50% of all the CO₂ emissions come from energy used by buildings. This is very important to me and I consider that it is our responsibility to drop carbon emissions drastically if we want to stop climate change.
As a Building Services Engineer, I am very committed to consider and apply low and zero carbon technologies where these are appropriate.
After attending the Low Carbon Consultant course and passing the exam, I feel very confident to provide our clients workable solutions to reduce carbon emissions and energy use as well as compliance with Approved Document L of the Building Regulations."
