Works are now complete for the Colchester Mind project, to allow the North Essex mental health charity to move into a former GP surgery in Colchester.
Colchester Mind has been helping to improve the lives of people throughout North Essex since 1985, and helps 3,500 people each year providing a variety of services and activities; while campaigning to help reduce the stigma attached to Mental Health.
Colchester Mind had purchased the former GP Surgery in Mersea Road, which closed two years ago when staff relocated to a new site.
Ingleton Wood in conjunction with Beardwell Construction undertook a 12 week project to refurbish the existing building. The work included the installation of a new entrance lobby, an upgrade of the front façade and the creation of a number of consulting rooms, activity areas and office accommodation. The creation of the Colchester Wellbeing Centre is hoped to become the blueprint for other Mind centres throughout the country.
Chief executive James McQuiggan said “the modern space would allow the charity’s 45 staff to help the rising number of people seeking help from the charity.”
