It has been a busy few months of exhibiting for our staff as various education conferences, kicking off with the Academies Show at London ExCel in April, preparing for works over the summer holidays and then off to the Independent Schools’ Bursars Association Conference in Brighton.
The recent ISBA Conference welcomed over 500 Bursars and Ingleton Wood’s stand was visited by many of our friends and colleagues from the Independent Schools’ sector. It was great to catch up on events over the last year, plans they have for the future and how we can assist them in their endeavours.
Every conference tends to have key subjects that crop up in conversations. This year, as well as architectural and quantity surveying queries, we had many delegates asking about planned maintenance and asset management surveys. We found that having our Mechanical and Electrical team alongside our Building Surveyors at these conferences provided a great deal of helpful advice beyond the usual maintenance considerations. Carefully planned budgeting and smoothing cashflow is always something we aim to assist with when preparing asset plans. The benefits of considering the long term costs of regular maintenance and planned replacement of boilers and plant within the Schools’ asset plan is a key factor often overlooked.
As well as the usual follow up meetings with delegates, we had great pleasure in presenting our prize draw Magnum of champagne at each conference, we hope the lucky winners enjoy and we look forward to seeing you all again next year.
