Florence Hayes Play Centre and Adventure Park

Florence Hayes Play Centre and Adventure Park

Ingleton Wood acted as Framework Consultants for the London Borough of Enfield’s Capital Improvement Programme. Working closely with the Parks Department and other stakeholders, we provided a multi-disciplinary service including master planning, project management and technical design for the regeneration of Florence Hayes Recreation Ground in Edmonton.

The master plan concept divided an under-utilised Council recreation ground into six new ‘Activity Zones’ including adventure play, multi use games areas and a play centre building as the focal point of the park. Around these areas, a series of themed spaces were created for ‘natural’ and ‘adventure’ play areas for education purposes, including a kitchen garden, woodland free play area, additional planting and forest style play equipment. A contoured perimeter path and cycle way accommodated wheelchair users and pushchairs as well as space for skateboarding and roller skating.

Ingleton Wood’s early involvement and project planning ensured the new facility was completed on time and on budget in two phases to suit Big Lottery and Play England funding requirements.

Since occupation it has been well received by community groups and local schools who use the staffed play centre and park for both structured play and educational purposes.
