Ingleton Wood was commissioned to design and manage the construction contract for this 80-bed low secure residential mental health unit. The project involved the extension and refurbishment of an existing seven storey care home, which had stood vacant and neglected for many months. The entire building was stripped down to the basic structure and re-fitted, complete with new windows and doors, new finishes throughout and renewal of all mechanical and electrical services. The new building contains 80 individual bedrooms, all with en-suite showers, dayrooms and common rooms, therapy rooms and facilities, as well as staff offices, training and meeting rooms. |
During the extensive 8 month period, considerable consultation and presentation took place with the NHS Trust, who were keen to closely involve not only the nursing staff and various other departments within the trust, but also see input from the potential residents. By all accounts the staff and residents are very pleased with the new building, the airy and bright environment and the facilities provided.
