An Ingleton Wood interior designer’s work has been selected by a panel of international judges to be showcased at a charity auction during the Clerkenwell Design Week on 22nd May.
The design initiative, led by furniture designer and manufacturer Actiu, invited London-based creatives to upcycle the company’s iconic ‘Badminton’ chair and auction the winning pieces to raise funds for UK cancer support charity, the Maggie’s Centre.
The Maggie’s Centre, built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, offers free practical, emotional and social support to cancer sufferers as well as their family and friends. Founded in 1996 in Edinburgh, the Maggie’s Centre now has 20 centres around the UK with professional staff on hand.
Mandy Cheung, Interior Designer at Ingleton Wood’s London office, commented: “Tasked with a limited budget and time-scale, this was a challenging project, but I enjoyed every second of the design process.
“The design brief encouraged participants to approach the chair as an object, which led me to design the chair upside down. As the only interior designer amongst the other winners, I looked at the project with a more holistic view. I am delighted to have been selected as a winner and look forward to the auction at the Clerkenwell Design Week next week, raising money for an incredible charity.”
