Thousands of pounds have been raised for St Elizabeth Hospice following another record-breaking Ingleton Wood Charity Football Tournament.
Ingleton Wood raised a total of £2,299.60 for the Hospice after welcoming over 100 players, organisers and guests at their sixth-annual event held at Ipswich School Sports Centre.
Fourteen teams comprising the Practice’s clients and contractors took part and accountancy firm Scrutton Bland took home the coveted trophy after defeating Survey Solutions 1-0 in a tense final following an afternoon of dazzling skill, goals galore and friendly competition.
St Elizabeth Hospice, a Suffolk-based independent charity, supports over 3,000 individuals and their families every year throughout East Suffolk, Great Yarmouth, and Waveney. Those they support are living with a progressive or life-limiting illness.
With services costing almost £13 million per year to deliver, and with a significant portion of funding dependent upon the generosity of the community, donations are vital for the continued operation of the charity.
Liz Baldwin, Corporate and Sponsorship Fundraising Manager at St. Elizabeth Hospice said: “We are absolutely delighted that Ingleton Wood chose to continue to support St Elizabeth Hospice with their annual Charity Football Match, raising an absolutely phenomenal £2,299.60.
“Each year we support over 3,185 patients ranging from 14 years old and upwards and demand for our care is constantly growing.
“As we have to generate over 70% of our funding ourselves, we rely on the generosity of local businesses like Ingleton Wood to enable us to continue to provide our care free of charge to patients and their families in the community, today, tomorrow and for years to come.
“Many congratulations to the winning team!”
An evening BBQ and well-earned refreshments capped off the fundraising event, which took place on Friday 12 May.
David Cresswell, Managing Partner said: “We are thrilled to have raised another record fundraising amount for such an important local charity and we would like to sincerely thank everyone who participated in or supported the fantastic event.
“The Hospice provides vital support to individuals and families across Suffolk and the East of England and relies heavily on fundraising. As a community-focused Practice, we are proud to play our part and are already looking forward to welcoming back everyone next year.”
