Ingleton Wood is proud to have been shortlisted in the ‘Best Project’ category at the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) Awards for Planning Excellence for our work on Swallowtail Place, an independent living scheme based in Norfolk.
The RTPI East of England Awards for Planning Excellence 2023 showcase and celebrate the best plans, people, and projects. The Practice has been nominated alongside five other firms within the category, with the winners being announced on 22 June 2023.
Ingleton Wood was appointed to provide architecture, planning, and mechanical and electrical services for Swallowtail Place in Acle, Norfolk, in May 2019 with work commencing in October 2021, following the approval of planning permission.
The project, that was further supported by Homes England, saw the construction of 58 new affordable homes, all built with the intention of allowing individuals over the age of 55 with care needs to live independently. The development was completed in late 2022, with the first occupiers moving in by November 2022.
Rebecca Howard, Associate Planner at Ingleton Wood said: “We are very pleased to have achieved such prestigious recognition for Swallowtail Place. This is true testament to the fantastic partnership and high-quality work that was carried out by everyone involved.
“As this project was the first Extra Care housing scheme that Saffron Housing Trust have completed in association with Norfolk County Council, there was a clear brief that this project needed to serve as an example for future developments.
“Due to the high standards required for this development and the challenges of working effectively during the Pandemic, to see the project and everyone's hard work recognised with this prestigious shortlisting brings a huge amount of joy."
Richard Bland, Head of Development Delivery at Saffron said: “We are delighted to have been nominated for the award. Many colleagues have worked hard during a challenging pandemic to deliver such a wonderful development for the people of Acle.”
“All at Saffron are proud of Swallowtail Place and we will continue to provide the best service at Swallowtail Place for all its residents.”
The East of England Award Ceremony will be held at the Riding School, Hatfield House, with all winning entries from the local East of England Regional Awards being entered into the national RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence, with a shortlist due to be announced on 9 October, and the award ceremony taking place on 21 November.
