Sustainability in Planning

Sustainability needs to feel right. The best and most cost effective solutions should seem obvious, as if they were staring you in the face all along. They should sit within your projects as if they have always been there. Through the involvement of our specialists at an early stage we can help make sure that sustainability is built into your project from the ground up and doesn’t just become an add on.

Energy Statements

Energy Statements are tailored to meet the requirements of each local authority, as there is no standard format. We liaise with councils and find out what they want from an Energy Statement, therefore ensuring the best chance for your planning application to be reviewed successfully.

We will provide you with a detailed statement that outlines the different considerations including costs carbon reductions and the relevant calculations, and have the expertise to ensure we meet all the requirements.

Daylighting Analysis

Our experienced team use three-dimensional modelling on industry standard software packages in order to evaluate both daylighting provision in new buildings and the impact of a development on neighbouring properties. Our involvement during the feasibility process can help shape the scheme so that it meets the requirements of the local planning authority, avoiding any costly redesign at a later stage.

Thermal Modelling

Ingleton Wood have trained specialists who can perform thermal modelling calculations for any type of building. These calculations can be used to inform a more energy efficient design and mitigate against unwanted solar gains. We can evaluate the likelihood of overheating in buildings (and advise on solutions) and even predict the effect that climate change might have throughout a building lifespan.

Green Performance Plan

Some planning authorities require a strategy for monitoring developments after handover. Green performance plans set out performance targets and indicators for a 3 year occupied period.

Our team can provide you with a green performance plan setting out the Post Occupancy Evaluation strategy after handover of the project. Our experienced monitoring team can also monitor and evaluate the project in terms of occupant satisfaction and thermal environment, meaning our service truly does run from feasibility to beyond the construction stage. More information about Post Occupational Evaluation can be found on our POE page.
