Ingleton Wood work closely with our clients and design teams in the heritage and conservation environment. Whether your project requires sensitive repairs and reinstatement, significant refurbishment or complete conversion, our experienced team can offer professional advice on an independent or multi-discipline basis to suit your project needs.
We employ qualified professionals that bring their years of professional construction experience to your project whether it be large or small scale.
We commit to each project and dedicate the time required to understand the building and the project needs. This early investment of time means that we are able to adapt our proposals to work for the building and the client team.
Our team have passion for the conservation and preservation of historic buildings, working to fully understand the options available and to propose sensitive and suitable options for each situation. We fully appreciate the challenges in pairing the historic environment with the needs of modern occupants.
We work closely with our clients, often supporting teams with difficult decisions surrounding the balance of initial project cost, environmental responsibility and carbon emissions, married with long term running costs. We know that these are important factors for the long term preservation of historic buildings and as such, we incorporate these considerations into all of our proposals.
We know that the best way to convey an idea or design is by developing information which is both easily understood and detailed enough to avoid confusion. If your project has a variety of stakeholders or interested parties then it is very likely that each audience will require a different level of detail. We would work with you to agree the approach for each project stakeholder. Such stakeholders may include project funders, end users, local authority planners, other approval committees and of course the public. We utilise both tried and tested methods and cutting edge technologies and tools to offer design support.
Our team knows that conservation goes beyond the initial repair or alteration work which can be grant funded. Using our knowledge of current technologies and building techniques we are able to advise and recommend solutions which meet both the current needs and the long term requirements of the client. We can focus our services towards low carbon emissions, low running costs or the potential for future flexibility in order that those responsible for heritage assets can safeguard their future.
We have a wealth of experience developing sustainable strategies for complex heritage sites, and understand the nuances of older, often listed, buildings. We can help you through the minefield of options, and assist with grant applications to fund upgrades. There is never a one size fits all solution and we can help you to operate your estate in as energy efficient a way as is possible.
We support the development of sensitive and appropriate solutions which minimise the impact of our interventions whilst maximising the potential for each project.

“I have worked with the Ingleton Wood team on a number of projects over the last few years. Each and every job has been professionally handled with a depth of understanding and knowledge which is second to none. Works at the College are always complicated because of our Grade 1 listed status but that’s never been an issue to the Ingleton Wood team who take it all in their stride.
They are conscious of our needs and go the extra mile to make sure we get what we need, at the right price and delivered on time by reputable contractors. I have no hesitation in recommending them.”
Fran Difranco, Director of Finance and Resources, Morris Education Trust, Impington Village College
“I would like to pass on a note of thanks to Ingleton Wood who dealt with the 11 Stone Buildings project.
All involved carried out their respective tasks with a high degree of professionalism, in good humour and without drama.
The Cost Control service was excellent, going ‘above and beyond’ to help with issues outside of the strict brief and the project came in under budget.
The design service provided was prompt and efficient, again going the extra mile.
The Project Manager pulled the whole team together, including consultants outside of Ingleton Wood, cautioned on risk items and completed the project on time.
Thanks once again.”
Philip Ardley, Programme Director & Estates Director, The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn
“From start to finish, on what was a fairly lengthy process, Ingleton Wood supported us and more importantly, worked with us to ensure that we moved into our beautiful listed building on time and with everything that we needed. This of course needed to be to the correct specification providing an office space that worked for our brand.
Ingleton Wood were with us for the duration of the works on site ensuring that they built strong relationships not only with us as the client, but also the contractors that were working on the building, thus making the whole process so much easier. Ingleton Wood have a fantastic all-round knowledge enabling them to provide detailed advice and guidance throughout the process.
As well as the works to our new offices, Ingleton Wood also assisted us on the dilapidations of our old offices negotiating with our previous landlords ensuring that we were given a fair settlement price.
I wouldn’t hesitate to use Ingleton Wood again – a great company!”
