“Our new building has delivered everything we hoped for and provides a calm, versatile environment for everyone. Having the opportunity to work closely with the team throughout the design and implementation stages has enabled us to create a structure which kept the children at the centre. Careful consideration to every aspect has resulted in an expansion which works harmoniously with the existing building and school grounds.
Reflecting the ethos of the school and how it operates, the building was developed collaboratively, to deliver the design brief on every level. Through a creative approach to the internal configuration, spaces have been created which support and enhance teaching and learning. With the use of internal glazing, around a shared space, a sense of connection between classes is fostered, whilst enabling the teaching rooms to be quiet and distraction free. The overall feel is of light, space and community.
A favourite place for everyone is the central atrium, which is used for group activities, reading and socialising. It also doubles as a library, large meeting space, dance and drama studio, and even as an indoor athletics hall on rainy days! The children love everything about the building. They are intrigued by the cladding at the main entrance, which changes colour as the light alters throughout the day and particularly enjoy using the high tech washrooms.
Everything, from the colour schemes to the external landscaping, has been planned together. We have felt equal partners throughout the process and have worked seamlessly with our architects, Ingleton Wood, and the team from Herts County Council, with the views of children and staff taken into account throughout. The project has been a privilege to be part of.”
Liz Pollard, Headteacher, Codicote School
“This is wonderful news. To have achieved what you all achieved is nothing short of miraculous. You not only delivered a stunning building powered by a purpose that literally changes lives but you were great to work with and all these awards are truly deserved. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Commenting on the Roundhouse winning the 2024 Civic Trust Award & Special Award for Community Impact and Engagement.”
Marcus Davey, Cheif Executive & Artistic Director, The Roundhouse
“The College has valued the professional input that Ingleton Wood brought to this project. They quickly understood our objectives and what we wanted to achieve from this specialist project.
It was particularly challenging to deliver this project during the Covid pandemic but Ingleton Wood supported us with ensuring everyone in the professional team remained focused on meeting deadlines.
We are really pleased with the overall finish of Tech Campus and to see students using it as we planned. Ingleton Wood were an important part of helping to make the vision a reality.”
Mary Gleave, Vice Principal, Suffolk New College
“I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have had Ingleton Wood’s planning assistance to allow me to set up a new nursery in Canary Wharf. Ingleton Wood were very reassuring and provided a fantastic service to obtain planning approval. They were understanding of our needs and provided great support through the process against a backdrop of critical time constraints.
The efforts Ingleton Wood made to ensure the permission was delivered on time was fantastic and my heartfelt thanks to them.”
Edwina Sesay, Owner and Manager of Wonder Haven Nurseries
“I would like to say that since we started working with Ingleton Wood in January 2020 they have been invaluable in obtaining 3 new planning consents for schemes and are providing support on a number of further schemes that are currently going through the pre-planning application phase.
As a small Borough Council without dedicated resources internally and sites that are predominately disused garages, we are very reliant on Ingleton Wood to interpret our outline brief and present schemes that fully utilise our general compact sites. They are always quick to help evolve the plans as surveys and other professional advice is received and ensure that any proposals meet the planning requirements currently in force, any comments received as part of pre-planning advice are quickly responded to and solutions found that address these without compromising the objectives of the scheme. They also look to address future requirements so that we develop schemes that see us leading the way into a sustainable future, in fact the Council are now incorporating air source heat pumps as well as EV charging points and solar energy into all its new developments ahead of most of the private sector developments in the Borough as a direct result of input from Ingleton Wood. The new homes being built will secure much needed affordable housing within a borough where housing costs are relatively high and properties limited.
So, despite Ingleton Wood having a small planning team they show total commitment to our needs and consistently deliver a high quality and timely service to us.”
David Randerson, Housing Development and Finance Manager, Castle Point Borough Council
“The Farmstead is the result of a huge effort from everyone working on the project from initial concept to delivery, and I'm looking forward to seeing it become a thriving component of the community.
Ingleton Wood played a key role in creating this landmark destination which is already attracting a good deal of interest from people using the first services to open their doors to the public.”
Ben Phillips, Director, Linmere Development
“Ingleton Wood has provided us with an excellent full multidisciplinary design service including BREEAM for the Uphall School project, which was a school extension including a sports hall and commercial kitchen with landscaping works. Trevor, and the team produced drawings which were clear, well-coordinated, and easy to understand. Additionally, they were quick to turn around any design changes and are not a claim driven designer contractor. I would recommended them to anybody.”
George Dance MEng (Hons), Quantity Surveyor, Engie
“Working with Ingleton Wood delivers value to our clients. We have the benefit of their accumulated knowledge of our client properties at every stage of a project. The acquired trust provides invaluable assurance to ourselves and to our clients that we can collaborate on co-ordinated responses that address immediate issues without creating longer term problems elsewhere at the building.”
Jason Karmin, Senior Property Manager, HLM Property Management
“The RIBA Stage 4 period is the most engaging and intense in the design process as this is where the project team needs to balance contractor buildability, client expectations, subcontractor detailed coordination and in most cases some kind of value engineering process. To make this stage a success, we need a team that understands the natural ebb and flow of the design process and can adapt to the relentless pressures on the project.
I have found Andrew and Trevor to be an absolute pleasure to work with through this period. They take account of the challenges thrust upon the project and come up with ideas, share thoughts, challenge and most importantly they can see through the haze and focus on delivering a design that embraces the ethos of the scheme. With this positive and practical approach, Ingleton Wood have certainly added value to our project. It is a pleasure to be part of a team where we can talk through ideas in an open and honest environment, enjoying a laugh and joke along the way… with this spirit, the project will be a success and we will deliver a great building for our Client.”
Stuart Thompson BEng (Hons) CEng MICE MCIOB, Senior Design Manager, RG Carter
“This is the second project on which I have worked with colleagues at Ingleton Wood and on both occasions have found their service to be excellent. All staff I have worked with are personable and knowledgeable. Communication has been good throughout with quick responses to queries and a proactive approach to any issues that have arisen.
We have worked together as part of a larger project team to deliver two successful projects and as a result I would recommend Ingleton Wood.”

Paul Newcombe, Head of Nurse Education, University of Roehampton

“After the first meeting with Lucy Smith I knew I had made the right decision to work with a professional planning consultant on the development of my student property at Brereton Close. Lucy and the rest of the team were very professional, friendly and super knowledgeable about current policies. Despite having to reduce the size of the development in line with recent changes of policy I am confident that we got the best result in the timescale. Thanks for all your help.”
Steve Horton, Property Investor & Developer, Steve Horton Ltd.
“We always find Ingleton Wood easy to deal with. They understand, with minimal input from us, what we and our client’s want and then deliver it quickly. Their commercial awareness means they are able to provide realistic solutions to the issues our clients face in a clear and concise fashion. Overall this reduces the time we have to spend analysing and relaying technical information and helps us to help our clients more effectively.”

Sarah Rimmington, Environmental Officer, Property Services, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
“We recently employed Ingleton Wood to carry out the M&E services design from the Clients concept proposals to completion on the Innovation Centre at the University of Essex. The project was subject to a great deal of value engineering and Ingleton Wood assisted this process with various design solutions and checking of calculations to ensure compliance to achieve both the SBEM/ BRUKL and BREEAM Very Good requirements.
The whole process worked well between all parties with regular communications being a key factor. We would use Ingleton Wood in the Future.”
Colin Clements, Divisional Director, Bower Fuller
“Ingleton Wood provided multi-disciplinary project management, contract administration, mechanical & electrical and civil engineering services during the construction of a new twelve classroom modular building at St Thomas More School, Bedford. David Williams, along with the Architect, delivered comprehensive pre-contract services which accurately captured the school’s aspirations for the new building and all the project constraints. This enabled the school to enter into a £1.3m design & build contract with peace of mind. The construction phase was expertly led by Ryan East who, along with the Architect and Contractor, ensured the project was delivered on time, on budget and most importantly, in a safe manner within a live school environment.
The school are thrilled with the new building and we wouldn’t hesitate to use Ingleton Wood’s services again. Their approach to project and contract management is very professional and their attention to detail is reassuring.”
Jane Stringer, Chief Finance Officer at Bedford Catholic Schools, St Francis of Assisi Academies Trust

Michael Harper, Managing Director, Newsquest Essex & North London
“We were very pleased to have worked with Ingleton Wood’s civil and structural team on the project at EasyHotel Ipswich, their swift response time enabled us to keep the site work on programme at several critical moments. Refurbishment and adaptation of existing buildings always throws up surprises but we were delighted with the pragmatic engineering service we had as this often avoided complicated solutions and temporary works. It was this joined up thinking and readiness to come to site to resolve issues that we found so refreshing.”
Richard McCracken, Divisional Director, 8build
“I would highly recommend Ingleton Wood, they have provided me with a fantastic experience and really went above and beyond. Thank you for providing such a great design and service, it made the entire process much easier.”
James Hutt, Director, Huttie Group

“Ingleton Wood, and in particular David Wright, have been outstanding in providing a full project management service to support the CCG in its office relocation project. All aspects of the service specification have been expertly delivered in a high quality, professional and timely manner. Ingleton Wood have managed all aspects with site contractors (from sourcing to ensuring their timely delivery) and also managed the liaison with the key stakeholders for both the outgoing and new buildings. David has also attended all meetings of the Project Board and has ensured all specific requests made by the CCG regarding the new office space have been accommodated, without any concerns, and within the agreed contract.
David has been brilliant – and I would highly recommend Ingleton Wood for the provision of project management capacity for corporate office moves.”
Ian Porter, Director of Corporate Services, NHS Camden Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)
“What makes Ingleton Wood one of our SAM team’s trusted partners is their personal approach and dedication to ensure that commissions are delivered to a high standard even under the most challenging circumstances. This approach is at the heart of a unique partnership with one of our FM partner companies where we work together to deliver condition surveys for infrastructure projects that make a difference to building users.
More recently, Scott Barlow and his team have helped us make a positive impact by undertaking a high quality survey on time to ensure that one of our School's projects delivered its lifecycle asset replacement plan in line with contractual obligations. Ultimately, this means that we can continue to provide a great learning environment for children.”
Babajide Ogunniyi, Head of Strategic Asset Management, HCP
“When school buildings reach the end of their expected life they can become challenging to manage, but with many competing demands for funding it can still prove tough to get the investment required to make fundamental changes.
Ingleton Wood gathered the various surveys that have been carried out over recent years, performed a detailed analysis of this data and compiled a set of most compelling property concerns. This helped us construct our case for funding and we now feel more informed about the condition of the building.
Throughout the process, Ingleton Wood kept us fully informed of progress and talked us through the report prior final issue. The quality and speed of actions taken helped us maintain traction with this project and we are hopeful for a positive outcome.”
Richard Cole, Head of Estates, Inspiration Trust
“I wanted to have it noted that Ingleton Wood have been excellent since taking on the project at Bishops Auckland Health Centre with Currie and Brown.
Considering that they took over the BREEAM side of this project very late on, they quickly got up to speed and started the process towards submission shortly after. They understood our eagerness to close out a long overdue aspect of the project and reacted accordingly. They made the whole process straightforward as it could be and additionally discovered several extra credits that had not previously been even targeted.
A job very well done, and we would definitely work with again in the future.”
John Askell, Operations, Galliford Try Building - North East & Yorkshire
“Ingleton Wood have provided a full range of multi-disciplinary consultant services to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service now for more than 10-years.

Their service has been provided through multi-disciplinary teams that are assembled specifically to deliver our projects, and as a result their staff have a strong working knowledge of our detailed requirements.
Ingleton Wood has always provided a service that is consistent, professional and one that meets the high standards required by our organisation.”
John Philpot, Building Surveyor, Property Services, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
“I have worked with the Ingleton Wood team on a number of projects over the last few years. Each and every job has been professionally handled with a depth of understanding and knowledge which is second to none. Works at the College are always complicated because of our Grade 1 listed status but that’s never been an issue to the Ingleton Wood team who take it all in their stride.
They are conscious of our needs and go the extra mile to make sure we get what we need, at the right price and delivered on time by reputable contractors. I have no hesitation in recommending them.”
Fran Difranco, Director of Finance and Resources, Morris Education Trust, Impington Village College

Each project provides its own challenges and Ingleton Wood have worked flexibly to meet the needs of each individual client and project.
In addition, whilst working with Ingleton Wood on various projects including Barnet & Southgate College I have found the team to be helpful, responsive and proactive which has allowed us, the client team, to make informed choices to ensure the required BREEAM rating is achieved with minimal difficulty and expense.”
Luke Ridgwell, Project Manager, Fusion Project Management Ltd.
“Ingleton Wood have delivered an excellent and comprehensive architectural and planning consultancy service for our exceptions scheme of 23 affordable homes, to achieve a unanimously supported resolution to grant planning permission within the statutory planning timescales.
With such confidence in the planning application we took the decision to run the tender exercise for the build contract simultaneously with the planning application and following a successful return of tenders we are on track to achieve a start on site within eight months of submitting the planning application.
The scheme design provides a modern take on the local style that has been complimented by both local residents and the planning committee members. It has also proved to be cost-effective given that we received tender returns within the expected budget.”
Laura Handford, Deputy Head of Development - East, Orbit Homes
“Ingleton Wood have provided us with excellent dilapidations and project management services on a number of industrial units we asset manage in Colchester. Having secured solid dilapidation settlements from the outgoing tenants, their project management team have then gone on to manage the dilapidation works, within the settlement budget and to a tight programme, to allow us to secure new tenants with minimum void periods. The seamless way their differing teams work together has helped deliver successful projects for us on a repeat basis.”

“I would like to pass on a note of thanks to Ingleton Wood who dealt with the 11 Stone Buildings project.
All involved carried out their respective tasks with a high degree of professionalism, in good humour and without drama.
The Cost Control service was excellent, going ‘above and beyond’ to help with issues outside of the strict brief and the project came in under budget.
The design service provided was prompt and efficient, again going the extra mile.
The Project Manager pulled the whole team together, including consultants outside of Ingleton Wood, cautioned on risk items and completed the project on time.
Thanks once again.”
Philip Ardley, Programme Director & Estates Director, The Honourable Society of Lincoln's Inn

This is a fantastic achievement and will make such a difference to all our students as well as the community. We are all looking forward to the start of the project and working with you in the future.”
Paul Danielsen, Headteacher, Highworth Grammar School

They have provided a complete project management service, starting with the initial design, arranging planning applications to procuring the contractor and ensuring the projects are delivered within budget and on time.

Throughout every project, the team have been consistently proficient, they have provided superb advice and expertise which the school highly values. Both the school and Ingleton Wood have built upon a flourishing relationship, which we are very keen to continue.”
Diane Ames, Finance Director, Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar School

We have always found the team at Ingleton Wood to be professional, personable and flexible to the needs of the school. Our completed projects have also been delivered to a high quality. As a result we feel that we have developed a sound working relationship with Ingleton Wood and therefore a relationship upon which we can continue to work together.”
Karl Wadsworth, Director of Studies, Hurstmere School
“Having not worked previously with Ingleton Wood we were delighted with the result they achieved for us when defending a dilapidation claim on one of our former offices in Leeds.
Through their expertise and negotiation skills they managed to secure a settlement which was less than 50% of the Landlord’s original claim. We look forward to working with them again as and when the need arises.”
Julie Scarr, Business Services Analyst, Countrywide Assured
“Thank you to Marcus Poole, Nicole Flynn and their team for delivering the St Michaels House Project. This was a difficult project from the outset given the restrictions on Hertfordshire County Council’s budget and timescales along with trying to accommodate complex needs of the service/ building users.
The project as with any project had its challenges with late design changes and pressure from Hertfordshire County Council to flex the building to its maximum but within budget. Marcus and Nicole both met this with professionalism and accommodated our decisions wherever possible and were courteous and patient throughout.
The time taken on specifications and getting things right has meant the building is working really well especially where accessibility is concerned. Also, the wheelchair charging bays are a godsend!
The building has been transformed beyond belief and to the amazement of its clients and end users who are very happy to be spending time in this new facility. The level of finish with the colour scheme, flooring and light that floods in has made this a hotel standard property of which Hertfordshire County Council are extremely proud. The service provided here is for people with newly acquired brain injury, stroke sufferers, hospital discharge clients who need to be assessed or while having their own homes altered plus anyone in Hertfordshire that needs respite care whilst families have a break from caring responsibilities. This building will go on to provide all sorts of possibilities to families and carers alike and will make a massive impact on their lives.
I would not hesitate to work with Ingleton Wood again or recommend their services for such a project in the future and thank you for making this project such a great success.”
Michelle Abraham, Project Manager - Building Management Team, Hertfordshire County Council
“We have employed Ingleton Wood structural engineering team on several projects to provide design and detailing services for our bespoke precast concrete product range. The relationship has gone from strength to strength and we now regularly seek advice from the structural team on all projects where we feel their input is required.
The Ingleton Wood team always integrate fully into the overall design team on our projects and their willingness to liaise directly with third parties on our behalf has become invaluable as this speeds up the design process and helps to avoid potential design problems. Their level of professionalism and speed of response on our projects is always very good and we intend to continue our working relationship with them into the future.”
Tim Evans, Director of Bespoke Products, Poundfield Products
“Cocksedge Building Contractors worked with Andrew Collett of Ingleton Wood at the Chevington Close development, formerly known as South Close for Havebury Housing Partnership. The development involved a combination of flats and houses with varying degrees of adaptation for special needs.
Andrew provided detailed well thought through design drawings, achieved by listening and enhancing the client’s brief to enable the project team to produce an end product that we could all be proud of.
We were delighted with Andrew’s input to the development, not only providing the design and architectural construction drawings, but at short notice he could meet on site to discuss any site issues that required architectural input, and as a result quick decisions were made ensuring works remained on programme.
During the construction works, Andrew ensured that the Architects design was adhered to whilst not being overly precious in considering minor changes to the design to fit the client and end user needs.
From the early stages, Ingleton Wood were involved in the construction process and assisted us to achieve continuity of construction, provided updates on design and discussed the details of these updates with our site team and contractors. This transparent process enabled us to achieve a first class build for the client. This was achieved by adopting a collaborative working team approach between the Architect, us as Principal Contractor and the client which we all bought into. The project team’s overall goal was to make this development a successful one, which I’m pleased to say we achieved!”
Steve Revell, Chartered Construction Manager, Cocksedge Building Contractors Ltd.
“The Ingleton Wood Architectural team have been a great support for 8build, particularly in assisting with a substantial tender bid on behalf of a large property consultancy based in Cambridge.
The team got to grips with understanding the employer’s requirements and demonstrated their knowledge of the project through tender pitches with the client.
We have also liaised with the structural engineering team with respect to tender pitches who again were very supportive and provided piling VE solutions to achieve a property client’s requirements. Thank you to all involved.”
Ian Woollison, Divisional Director, 8build
“We have worked closely with Ingleton Wood over the past four years as our Design Consultant on several design and build education projects on the Essex County Council Framework (formally SMARTE East).
Ingleton Wood have provided us with a multi-disciplinary service covering Architectural, Structural, Building Services Engineering and Planning support and have my full endorsement as an outstanding firm.
They are a very professional but friendly practice that quickly gains the confidence of our client on each project. They are able to understand the brief, translate this into concept designs, obtain planning permission on our behalf and finally provide fully co-ordinated and detailed technical designs. They are adept at option appraisal and have worked extremely well with us and our supply chain as part of a solution driven team.
From our perspective, our success often relies on the support and collaborative involvement of our design team. We have always felt that we are listened to and that the overall aims of each project are never lost. Designs are always produced accurately within committed timescales and to budget.
Working with Ingleton Wood has been a positive experience and a pleasure. Nothing has been too much trouble, no query too small and no question unanswered.

“From start to finish, on what was a fairly lengthy process, Ingleton Wood supported us and more importantly, worked with us to ensure that we moved into our beautiful listed building on time and with everything that we needed. This of course needed to be to the correct specification providing an office space that worked for our brand.
Ingleton Wood were with us for the duration of the works on site ensuring that they built strong relationships not only with us as the client, but also the contractors that were working on the building, thus making the whole process so much easier. Ingleton Wood have a fantastic all-round knowledge enabling them to provide detailed advice and guidance throughout the process.
As well as the works to our new offices, Ingleton Wood also assisted us on the dilapidations of our old offices negotiating with our previous landlords ensuring that we were given a fair settlement price.

“We gave Ingleton Wood a very challenging brief and they really captured our aspirations from the outset providing a stunning building that will make a real difference to our students. It was a pleasure working with Ingleton Wood team and we are delighted with what has been achieved on a very tight budget.
Not only did we ask Ingleton Wood to deliver a compelling and highly flexible building to accommodate a broad range of specialist student needs, the site we chose was a really complex one. Whilst inclusivity and engagement with the wider college was key, many of our students are extremely vulnerable and protecting their personal wellbeing was paramount. With this in mind Ingleton Wood worked closely with our faculty team to get balance of the layout right.
Given the prominence of the site location, we’re delighted with how the old and new elements work together. The bold use of colour throughout the building is an important part of the PMLD Centre’s programme which aims to encourage visual and physical stimulation.”
Corrienne Peasgood, College Principal, City College Norwich, Norfolk
“As the owner of two property development companies, I have been working with Ingleton Wood and I must say how impressed I have been.
I cannot stress how important Darren Upton's role has been throughout the works. Mr Upton is a deaf man as am I, and I have continued to be impressed by the service provided. Correspondence is always responded to promptly and Mr Upton always ensured I was fully understanding of the process from concept to completion.
I am a very strong believer that clear communication is absolutely vital to a projects’ success, alongside the design and implementation. I regard Mr Upton to be a very capable professional and will continue to work with him and Ingleton Wood on all future projects I have.”
Erez Zino, Founder of Global Cove Ltd./ Brampton Enterprises Ltd.

We have found that they listen to the client as well as allowing them input to the final design and work within the client’s needs/ requirements sometimes at the extent of their design.
The quality of the work/ design they provide is excellent and the finishes suggested are to the highest standards.
They are very client focussed and work extremely hard to maintain their relationships and ensure that all deadlines are met.”

We cannot thank the staff at Ingleton Wood enough. They will always be welcome as visitors to our pre-school.”
Julie Ward, Humpty Dumpty Pre-school Manager, Colchester, Essex
“Now that the Dementia Intensive Care Unit at Hammerton Court is open and in use, I would like to thank Ingleton Wood for designing such a fabulous building.
I have been so impressed from the start at the way you have worked with all staff, including nurses, doctors, carers, estates department colleagues as well as our service users, all of whom wanted input into the scheme, however you took this all in your stride.
I am so proud that we insisted on getting it just right, not compromising on space, technology, design or environmental features.
Witnessing staff and patients enjoying the space first hand is great, and we are already seeing people being more active and engaged.
Thank you so much for working with us, and turning our vision into a beautiful reality.”
