Ingleton Wood has carried out a wide range of community and social projects, including multi-purpose community halls, sports centres and leisure facilities. Clients include parish councils, sports clubs and voluntary organisations.
Ingleton Wood also works regularly with Councils on their public and civic buildings, such as libraries, museums and Park facilities. Many of the schemes are lottery-funded, and we can provide assistance with sourcing and applying for grants.
A particular specialisation of the Practice is in the health sector, and we have provided design services for Children and Family Centres, and Day Care facilities.
The Practice has been involved with the full range of building projects, from new build, extension or conversion, through to repair and refurbishment of existing buildings.
An essential element of all schemes in this sector is consultation both with user groups and the wider community. Ingleton Wood’s planning team can assist with the development of a strategy for community participation to be agreed with the client at an early stage of every project.
Sustainability is a fundamental part of our design ethos. Working with our environmental design discipline, low-energy solutions and renewable energy options can be evaluated at an early stage and incorporated into the scheme development.

“This is wonderful news. To have achieved what you all achieved is nothing short of miraculous. You not only delivered a stunning building powered by a purpose that literally changes lives but you were great to work with and all these awards are truly deserved. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

“I can’t tell you how thankful I am to have had Ingleton Wood’s planning assistance to allow me to set up a new nursery in Canary Wharf. Ingleton Wood were very reassuring and provided a fantastic service to obtain planning approval. They were understanding of our needs and provided great support through the process against a backdrop of critical time constraints.
The efforts Ingleton Wood made to ensure the permission was delivered on time was fantastic and my heartfelt thanks to them.”
Edwina Sesay, Owner and Manager of Wonder Haven Nurseries
“I would like to say that since we started working with Ingleton Wood in January 2020 they have been invaluable in obtaining 3 new planning consents for schemes and are providing support on a number of further schemes that are currently going through the pre-planning application phase.
As a small Borough Council without dedicated resources internally and sites that are predominately disused garages, we are very reliant on Ingleton Wood to interpret our outline brief and present schemes that fully utilise our general compact sites. They are always quick to help evolve the plans as surveys and other professional advice is received and ensure that any proposals meet the planning requirements currently in force, any comments received as part of pre-planning advice are quickly responded to and solutions found that address these without compromising the objectives of the scheme. They also look to address future requirements so that we develop schemes that see us leading the way into a sustainable future, in fact the Council are now incorporating air source heat pumps as well as EV charging points and solar energy into all its new developments ahead of most of the private sector developments in the Borough as a direct result of input from Ingleton Wood. The new homes being built will secure much needed affordable housing within a borough where housing costs are relatively high and properties limited.
So, despite Ingleton Wood having a small planning team they show total commitment to our needs and consistently deliver a high quality and timely service to us.”
David Randerson, Housing Development and Finance Manager, Castle Point Borough Council
“The Farmstead is the result of a huge effort from everyone working on the project from initial concept to delivery, and I'm looking forward to seeing it become a thriving component of the community.
Ingleton Wood played a key role in creating this landmark destination which is already attracting a good deal of interest from people using the first services to open their doors to the public.”
Ben Phillips, Director, Linmere Development
“I just wanted to thank Ingleton Wood for all the additional support and advice they have provided Essex County Fire and Rescue Service in the last 10 years when generating our DEC's. It has proved to be invaluable in helping us make the right decisions to ensure that our buildings are sustainable and up to date with the latest technology.”
Sarah Rimmington, Environmental Officer, Property Services, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
“Ingleton Wood have provided a full range of multi-disciplinary consultant services to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service now for more than 10-years.
Working alongside our Property Services representatives they annually deliver a combination of both Asset Protection and Asset Improvement projects, with values anywhere between £25,000 to over £1m.
Their service has been provided through multi-disciplinary teams that are assembled specifically to deliver our projects, and as a result their staff have a strong working knowledge of our detailed requirements.
Ingleton Wood has always provided a service that is consistent, professional and one that meets the high standards required by our organisation.”
John Philpot, Building Surveyor, Property Services, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service
“Thank you to Marcus Poole, Nicole Flynn and their team for delivering the St Michaels House Project. This was a difficult project from the outset given the restrictions on Hertfordshire County Council’s budget and timescales along with trying to accommodate complex needs of the service/ building users.
The project as with any project had its challenges with late design changes and pressure from Hertfordshire County Council to flex the building to its maximum but within budget. Marcus and Nicole both met this with professionalism and accommodated our decisions wherever possible and were courteous and patient throughout.
The time taken on specifications and getting things right has meant the building is working really well especially where accessibility is concerned. Also, the wheelchair charging bays are a godsend!
The building has been transformed beyond belief and to the amazement of its clients and end users who are very happy to be spending time in this new facility. The level of finish with the colour scheme, flooring and light that floods in has made this a hotel standard property of which Hertfordshire County Council are extremely proud. The service provided here is for people with newly acquired brain injury, stroke sufferers, hospital discharge clients who need to be assessed or while having their own homes altered plus anyone in Hertfordshire that needs respite care whilst families have a break from caring responsibilities. This building will go on to provide all sorts of possibilities to families and carers alike and will make a massive impact on their lives.
I would not hesitate to work with Ingleton Wood again or recommend their services for such a project in the future and thank you for making this project such a great success.”
Michelle Abraham, Project Manager - Building Management Team, Hertfordshire County Council
