Ingleton Wood, alongside our Flood Risk Assessment (FRA) services, can provide comprehensive hydraulic modelling assessments using advanced software to determine flood risks. This requirement has recently seen increased demand from Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFA) due to changes in planning policy which mandate detailed assessments of all flood risk sources, including surface water flood risk, during the planning phase.
The software enables detailed modelling of natural watercourses and floodplains, surface water flooding and flow routes, and urban drainage systems. These elements can be modelled separately or linked together to form an accurate representation of site-specific conditions.
The modelling of watercourses and floodplains is particularly valuable in areas where Environment Agency data is not available, as it accurately determines flood zones to ensure development occurs in areas of lowest flood risk, in line with the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
For sites affected by surface water flow paths the software can model pre-development scenarios utilising the latest catchment rainfall data to accurately predict flood probabilities. This process aids site master planning and the development of precise post-development scenarios helping determine necessary mitigation measures for planning approvals.
Our Pre-Development team can offer early advice including initial assessments to identify potential flood risks, recommendations for site layouts and initial guidance on sustainable drainage strategies. This enables effective water management to ensure that your project complies with current guidance and planning policy.
