Health

Ingleton Wood has many years’ experience of working in the health sector, on projects ranging from refurbishment and conversion, to extensions and new-builds. Clients include both acute and primary care NHS Trusts, GP Practices, private care home owners and other health care providers.

The multi-disciplinary structure of the Practice is particularly focused towards healthcare, where an in-house coordinated design team can ensure an integrated approach to projects, including architecture, project management, building surveying, building services design, interior design and Principal Designer services.

We consider sustainability as a primary design objective, and through our environmental discipline can provide an all-encompassing team including environmental design engineers, accredited low-carbon consultants for the production of energy certificates, and qualified BREEAM Healthcare assessors.

The Practice’s specialists can therefore provide the individual designed solutions which each scheme requires, informed by experience and technical knowledge of standards and regulations.  This expertise will also ensure a sensitive understanding of the therapeutic aspects of the design as well as an empathy with the needs of the end user.

Testimonials

“The RIBA Stage 4 period is the most engaging and intense in the design process as this is where the project team needs to balance contractor buildability, client expectations, subcontractor detailed coordination and in most cases some kind of value engineering process. To make this stage a success, we need a team that understands the natural ebb and flow of the design process and can adapt to the relentless pressures on the project.

I have found Andrew and Trevor to be an absolute pleasure to work with through this period. They take account of the challenges thrust upon the project and come up with ideas, share thoughts, challenge and most importantly they can see through the haze and focus on delivering a design that embraces the ethos of the scheme. With this positive and practical approach, Ingleton Wood have certainly added value to our project. It is a pleasure to be part of a team where we can talk through ideas in an open and honest environment, enjoying a laugh and joke along the way… with this spirit, the project will be a success and we will deliver a great building for our Client.”

Stuart Thompson BEng (Hons) CEng MICE MCIOB, Senior Design Manager, RG Carter

“Ingleton Wood have done a great job in creating a fantastic new flexible teaching facility from what was a slightly awkward space. They were easy to work with, listened to our evolving brief and came up with creative solutions to deliver what we needed. The Clinical Simulation Centre has attracted wide praise and is proving to be a fit-for-purpose resource for the development of the future healthcare workforce.”

Paul Newcombe, Head of Nurse Education, University of Roehampton

“We have enjoyed working with Ingleton Wood over a number of years who always offers simple structural solutions to often complex problems. The service is always speedy with a very much ‘can do’ attitude. We look forward to continuing our relationship throughout projects in the future.”

Rebecca Samworth, Project and Contracts Manager, Norwich BioScience Institutes

“Thank you to Marcus Poole, Nicole Flynn and their team for delivering the St Michaels House Project. This was a difficult project from the outset given the restrictions on Hertfordshire County Council’s budget and timescales along with trying to accommodate complex needs of the service/ building users.

The project as with any project had its challenges with late design changes and pressure from Hertfordshire County Council to flex the building to its maximum but within budget. Marcus and Nicole both met this with professionalism and accommodated our decisions wherever possible and were courteous and patient throughout.

The time taken on specifications and getting things right has meant the building is working really well especially where accessibility is concerned. Also, the wheelchair charging bays are a godsend!

The building has been transformed beyond belief and to the amazement of its clients and end users who are very happy to be spending time in this new facility. The level of finish with the colour scheme, flooring and light that floods in has made this a hotel standard property of which Hertfordshire County Council are extremely proud. The service provided here is for people with newly acquired brain injury, stroke sufferers, hospital discharge clients who need to be assessed or while having their own homes altered plus anyone in Hertfordshire that needs respite care whilst families have a break from caring responsibilities. This building will go on to provide all sorts of possibilities to families and carers alike and will make a massive impact on their lives.

I would not hesitate to work with Ingleton Wood again or recommend their services for such a project in the future and thank you for making this project such a great success.”

Michelle Abraham, Project Manager - Building Management Team, Hertfordshire County Council

“As an Innovation Centre it was imperative that we create a space at Care City which could stand out and inspire our stakeholders. Ingleton Wood provided a comprehensive service from design concept to handover. Throughout the process the team were responsive to our vision and created an environment which met our brief perfectly.”

Helen Oliver, Managing Director of Care City, North East London Foundation Trust

“Ingleton Wood has worked with St Helena Hospice on three major projects. The design consultants are keen to find out directly from the clinical staff what patients need and demonstrate considerable understanding towards the needs of palliative patients and their families.

Feedback on both the look and function of the Centre has been outstandingly positive from patients and staff.”

Rosy Stamp, Former Director of St Helena Hospice, Colchester, Essex

“I wish to thank Ingleton Wood for providing us with a high quality building of excellent design. This totally met our brief and the attention to detail is evident in the finished building. The project was extremely well managed and incorporated the latest NHS requirements which occurred while the project was being constructed.”

Tony Shelton, Chairman of The League of Friends of Halstead Hospital Ltd., Essex

“Now that the Dementia Intensive Care Unit at Hammerton Court is open and in use, I would like to thank Ingleton Wood for designing such a fabulous building.

I have been so impressed from the start at the way you have worked with all staff, including nurses, doctors, carers, estates department colleagues as well as our service users, all of whom wanted input into the scheme, however you took this all in your stride.

I am so proud that we insisted on getting it just right, not compromising on space, technology, design or environmental features.

Witnessing staff and patients enjoying the space first hand is great, and we are already seeing people being more active and engaged.

Thank you so much for working with us, and turning our vision into a beautiful reality.”

Maggie Wheeler, Chair, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust
