Ingleton Wood’s healthcare team were appointed as Architect and Contract Administrator to remodel and extend the former hospital chapel to create a new enlarged endoscopy department.
We were first employed in 2014 as part of an enabling works scheme to design a new patient call centre to allow space to be created for a new decontamination area. The final phase involved the relocation of the existing chapel and multi-faith areas to form new male and female recovery areas to comply with JAG compliance requirements.
Existing areas were converted to form new endoscopy x-ray treatment rooms including the infill of a small courtyard beside the main hospital street. These works were undertaken whilst keeping the theatre suite above and the existing endoscopy department in use, involving extensive hoarding, multiple phasing and works outside of normal working hours.
We were required to work with Olympus to coordinate their new stacks and overhead pendants along with designing methods of clean scope transfer into the rooms.
