Southend University Hospital - Urology Outpatients

Southend University Hospital - Urology Outpatients

Ingleton Wood were commissioned by Southend University Hospital NHS Trust to provide Architectural, Interior Design, Quantity Surveying & Building Services design for this exciting project to remodel a redundant area of the hospital to form a new Urology Outpatients department. The project involves the infilling of an existing courtyard to form a suite of new Urology consulting rooms along with Minor Operations, Urodynamics and Lithotripsy.

This was a complex phased project, being undertaken in an older area of the hospital, including the conversion of the boardroom and the infilling of a redundant courtyard. Considerable thought was given to the extent of phasing required, to enable an existing Minor Operations area to remain insitu for a substantial duration of the works.

One particular challenge has been the construction and infilling of the courtyard and the need to keep construction traffic, removal of debris and the delivery of construction materials away from patient and staff areas whilst ensuring the surrounding hospital could continue as usual.

The project was opened on time and within budget, to much acclaim.
