Mental Health Emergency Department

Ingleton Wood’s multi-disciplinary healthcare team were appointed by Herronway to act as architect for the design of an innovative Mental Health Urgent Care Department.  This will provide urgent mental health support for people aged 18 and over in Mid and South Essex.  The Department will be the first of its kind in Essex and will be located in the Basildon Mental Health Unit.

The works involved substantial remodelling of the existing area and extensive research into suitable materials and finishes. Ingleton Wood worked closely with anti-ligature furniture and door specialists to ensure that measures were put in place to protect both patients and staff, reducing any ligature risks. Client liaison throughout the project was essential to ensure the colour schemes, fabrics and anti-ligature furniture were appropriate, yet able to provide a sense of calm and comfort for the patients. 

We worked closely with the Trust to ensure the tailored needs of patients and staff are met.  We used our expertise and experience to provide a modern and relaxing environment in which high-quality care can be administered and were pleased to deliver our project on time and to budget.
