Nursery Relocation/ Refurbishment

Ingleton Wood were project Architects to convert an existing dis-used ground floor ward building into a new nursery for the hospital.

The nursery was designed to accommodate up seventy-two 0-5-year olds with designed-in flexibility to extend further into the existing building and accommodate up to a potential 100 children in the future.

Innovative internal design exposed and painted the existing roof structure leaving all services on display and forming large coloured lightwells to add visual interest. Detailing and clever use of materials was paramount to achieve a high-quality space on a very tight budget.

A covered play space and fully landscaped courtyard garden enhanced the externals of the building and provided valuable external play space for the children.
