Lincoln’s Inn, 11 Stone Buildings

Lincoln’s Inn, 11 Stone Buildings

We are extremely pleased to be working for The Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn to refurbish 11 Stone Buildings, a Grade 1 listed office building just off Chancery Lane. The Inn are the custodians of a wide range of magnificent listed buildings. The architecture and setting provides a remarkable backdrop to the everyday bustle of the thriving society of lawyers. Ingleton Wood were appointed to provide architectural, project management, contract administration, quantity surveying and CDM services for the £1.5m refurbishment.

The project involved the complete refurbishment of the 4 storey office building including the installation of a passenger lift in the centre of the building against a party wall. Working closely with the heritage planning consultants we devised a sympathetic scheme which whilst respecting the historic fabric of the building delivered high quality office accommodation.

The financial control of the project was complicated by the inclusion within the contract of works for the ingoing tenant. Responsibilities for payment were split and the financial reporting and approval of variations more protracted. Ultimately the project was completed on time and within budget and drew the following testimonial from Phil Ardley the Programme and Estates Director at the Inn:

"I would like to pass on a note of thanks to Ingleton Wood who dealt with the 11 Stone Buildings project. All involved carried out their respective tasks with a high degree of professionalism, in good humour and without drama.

The Cost Control service was excellent, going ‘above and beyond’ to help with issues outside of the strict brief and the project came in under budget. The design service provided was prompt and efficient, again going the extra mile.

The Project Manager pulled the whole team together, including consultants outside of Ingleton Wood, cautioned on risk items and completed the project on time.

Thanks once again."
