The Building Services team were appointed for full M&E and Environmental Design for the Barrington and Lamble project, working with Burd Haward Architects on three high profile infill sites for the London Borough of Camden.
These were part of Camden’s Community Investment Programme and provide 60% affordable units and 40% for private sale. The sites are in Gospel Oak in sensitive locations and the brief was for architecturally interesting, sustainable design solutions.
Our team were involved from day 1, surveying the site and inputting into the building massing and design solutions from RIBA Stage 1.
Each site design responds to its precise location and has a different energy solution. Site 3, for example, is close to the railway line and therefore has Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery to allow occupants to keep windows on the west elevation closed for much of the day. Site 1 has good solar access and therefore has PVs on the roof. Site 2 is overshadowed and has an Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP).
