Abbey College, Cambridge

Ingleton Wood has completed this project for Abbey College in Cambridge. It is part of a mixed-use scheme for Homerton College which also includes a 1500sqm office/education building, renovation of an existing office building on the site and outline planning consent for 95 houses and flats.

The college provides post-16 teaching facilities for up to 600 students which includes 22 tutorial/seminar rooms, 16 laboratories, art room, music rooms, an IT/social area and a library. There are also 120 en-suite student bedrooms.

The college caters for international students working in small tutorial groups of up to 12 people and using a wide variety of both college-based and external teaching methods such as links to universities and other international colleges.

The tutorial rooms provide accommodation for the full range of A-Level and IGCSE subjects.  Several of the rooms are fitted with acoustic folding partitions allowing spaces to be opened up for exams.

There is an external half-size basketball court, an internal multi-gym and student changing rooms.  There is also a multi-purpose hall which has a sports floor and two retractable basketball hoops.
