Highworth Grammar School

Ingleton Wood supported Highworth Grammar School with an application for an expansion project under the Condition Improvement Fund Government Initiative for the construction of a new state of the art sports hall. After several failed attempts from the school with their application for the new sports hall, Ingleton Wood provided architectural and quantity surveying assistance which enhanced their bid application and on the first attempt were successful in obtaining a grant for £1.8m.

The design was for a new four court sports hall with ancillary changing rooms, WC facilities, accessible toilet and shower and staff showering facilities. On the first floor a new performing arts space was incorporated within the design. As this was a flagship building for the school, they included a significant financial contribution to enhance the architectural design and ‘wow’ factor of the building. This saw the introduction of a curved barrel vault roof and first floor external terrace overlooking the existing sports pitches.

Ingleton Wood provided a multidisciplinary service, including all architectural, planning, civil and structural; mechanical and electrical design for tender and procurement delivery, contract administration and CDM services from inception through to completion. The works were completed on time and within budget.
