Hillside Avenue Primary School

Hillside Avenue Primary is a small primary school located within Thorpe St Andrew to the East side of Norwich. The school had existing timber framed, Georgian glazed windows and roofed covered way serving various classroom spaces within their internal courtyard area. The structure suffered with extensive timber decay, water ingress and poor thermal efficiency. 

The school required a new functional circulation space but with the additional benefit of having break out teaching areas. Ingleton Wood were appointed to undertake an initial feasibility process to explore different design options to meet the client brief. 

Due to the nature and process required for the construction phase of works, the project was split into two phases. Phase 1 was to demolish the existing structure and provide the new foundations with phase two progressing the following summer to construct the superstructure and undertake the internal fit out.
