King John Boiler Room

King John Boiler Room

Ingleton Wood provided assistance and supporting documentation to the King John School for a Condition Improvement Fund application to renovate the main boiler plantroom and building management system.

Given the age of the system, continued maintenance and repairs to the boiler plantroom was no longer considered viable for its future operation.

Ingleton Wood were able to develop the design and program that enabled the boiler replacement works to be executed within school’s summer recess period. The works comprised of the following:

  • Design of new low NOx condensing boilers, efficient hot water cylinders, plate heat exchangers and pumps as well as new LED lighting, along with a sophisticated Building Management System interlocked with new fire alarm and CO detection systems.
  • Preparation of drawings, specification, programme, designer risk assessment and contract to comply with CDM duties and building regulations.
  • Contract administration to lead on the project, working closely with the client, contractor project manager and school stakeholders from inception through to completion.

The new boiler installation has not only dramatically improved the operation of the heating and water services in the school, but has also significantly increased the efficiency of the installation and significantly reduced the carbon emissions.
