Little Venice Sports Centre

Little Venice Sports Centre

Ingleton Wood provided project management, CDM Coordination, mechanical and electrical, structural and quantity surveying services for the Little Venice Sports Centre. The site location is bounded by high-rise residential blocks, Paddington Green Primary School and St Mary’s Gardens. The sports centre is 1892m2 gross floor area over two floors. The architects for this project were LCE.

The Green credentials were carefully considered by Ingleton Wood, sun pipes were specified to enhance the lighting internally, reducing the need for artificial light. It does, however, have differing levels of artificial lighting to supplement the natural light from the sun pipes.
In other locations, such as changing rooms, toilet areas and stores, movement sensors have been included. The emergency lighting system features a computer controlled self testing system which gives defects against light fitting locations.

Windcatchers (Monodraught Units) were also specified so that the sports hall is naturally ventilated. The fitness suite also has natural ventilation but has additional air conditioning units.

The scheme incorporates a sedum roof; careful design consideration was given to the irrigation method, as the roof was flat and sloping.
