New Construction Centre, Chelmsford College

New Construction Centre, Chelmsford College

Ingleton Wood were appointed to support Chelmsford College with full multi-disciplinary design services, for the provision of a new state of the art construction centre.  The new construction centre replaced the existing temporary and lightweight rub tents, which were used for the delivery of construction related curriculum at the College.

The design incorporated new carpentry workshops to the ground floor and an additional multifunctional workshop to the first floor, as well as flexible general purpose teaching classrooms, which could be opened up and used as one larger conference space.  The design also incorporated a large external canopy, which enables students to complete curriculum activities outside, without being disrupted by inclement weather.

Ingleton Wood provided a multi-disciplinary service, including all architectural, planning, civil and structural; mechanical and electrical design for tender and procurement delivery, contract administration and CDM services from inception through to completion.  Ingleton Wood’s sustainability team were appointed and managed the process of the building achieving BREEAM very good and an EPC rating of A.

Testimonials

“The College has valued the professional input that Ingleton Wood brought to this project. They quickly understood our objectives and what we wanted to achieve from this specialist project.

It was particularly challenging to deliver this project during the Covid pandemic but Ingleton Wood supported us with ensuring everyone in the professional team remained focused on meeting deadlines.

We are really pleased with the overall finish of Tech Campus and to see students using it as we planned. Ingleton Wood were an important part of helping to make the vision a reality.”
