Ingleton Wood will begin work to install a new air conditioning system at Clacton Leisure Centre’s Swimming Pool in October.
The equipment is currently being manufactured in Italy for our client Tendring District Council (TDC). Work is set to begin on at the beginning of October will take around eight weeks to complete.
The current equipment is well past its best and needs replacing, with a temporary unit used to improve conditions for the pool’s customers in the winter. There may be times where the pool needs to close for a day or two, but these will be kept to a minimum and customers will be given as much notice as possible.
Senior Associate Wesley Henderson is leading the project on behalf of our Colchester office.
He said: “The new system will be much more efficient and uses latest, state of the art technology to ensure future heating costs are kept as low as possible. We will be working hard in partnership with TDC to keep any disruption to an absolute minimum and we appreciate people’s co-operation. It’s a great project to be involved in and one that will benefit the hundreds of thousands of people who use Clacton Leisure Centre every year.”
TDC’s Cabinet gave the £190,000 project the go ahead earlier this year. Swimmers have been patient in waiting for the improvements for some time.
Clacton Leisure Centre attracts around 420,000 visits each year and the swimming pool accounts for an estimated £200,000 each year in income through casual use and lessons.
