Fearless fundraisers will brave temperatures of up to 650°C when they hot foot it across 15ft of smouldering coals in aid of charity.
Ingleton Wood’s Colchester office is hosting a sponsored firewalk in November to raise money for Love Support Unite.
Many of our employees have already signed up but we would like as many neighbouring businesses and clients to take part as possible.
Partner Laura Mansel Thomas said: “Love Support Unite is a small, grassroots charity that creates and manages sustainable development projects in Malawi.
“It empowers people to become self-sufficient, with a leg-up rather than a hand-out, thereby lifting communities out of the cycle of poverty.”
Love Support Unite is one of our charities of the year and we are hoping to raise a total of £5,000.
Money from the firewalk will help provide sustainable famine relief for 25 vulnerable families with seven or more dependents. This includes permaculture and business training for growing and managing crops, a 0% loan for farming materials and an immediate care package.
Laura continued: “Our own employees have been very supportive but we thought it would be nice to extend the invitation to our clients and neighbouring businesses.
“It promises to be a fun evening and we look forward to welcoming as many people as possible – friends and family included.
“Love Support Unite is a fantastic charity that does some great work and we couldn’t be prouder to be able to host this event.”
Gayle Berry, from Love Support Unite, which supports the UN’s Global Goals for sustainable development, said: “The money raised will change the lives of an entire family, setting an example of sustainable farming for the whole village and creating communities that are empowered to take responsibility for their own self-sufficiency and food security.”
The firewalk is taking place on November 15th from 7.30pm at Ingleton Wood’s offices in The Crescent on Colchester Business Park. Full training will be provided beforehand by organisers UK Firewalk.
Registration costs £35 and the aim is to raise £100 per walk. Email alexandra.powell@ingletonwood.co.uk for more details or visit our JustGiving page.
