Fundraisers were in full swing for Ingleton Wood’s charity golf day aid of St Helena Hospice in Colchester.
A total of 27 teams from various local businesses teed up at Hintlesham Golf Club near Ipswich – raising £4,214.73.
Teams of four competed for a variety of prizes, including nearest to the pin and longest drive, with the best three scores on each hole counting towards the final total.
A four-ball from Ipswich-based roof manufacturer Bauder topped the leaderboard with an impressive 135 points.
The day ended with a display of skills by trick shot specialist and professional at Hintlesham Golf Club Kevin Carpenter. There was also a dinner and raffle.
David Cresswell, Partner at Ingleton Wood and a St Helena Hospice Trustee, said: “St Helena Hospice provides vital support for people and their families when they need it most. It is an incredibly worthwhile cause and we are only too happy to do what we can to help.
“Our first golf day was held last year and proved incredibly popular – but this has surpassed all expectations.
“I would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to help organise the event and make it such a success. We’re looking forward to doing it all over again next year.”
St Helena Hospice provides support for patients, families and carers in north east Essex, helping those with an incurable illness to live well and die with dignity and choice.
Treasurer Roger Sirman, who took part in the golf day, said: “Hospice care is about much more than just looking after a patient's medical care and physical symptoms. We aim to help people with their emotional and spiritual needs, as well as support their families and loved ones.
“It costs around £8.7 million a year to run our services – more than two thirds of which has to come through donations. Events such as this continue to demonstrate the popularity of the hospice within the local community and we are extremely grateful for everyone’s support.
“I would like to thank Ingleton Wood and everyone involved who helped raise such a fantastic and generous amount.”
