Town Hall Transformation Underway Monday, 26th November 2018

The £9.5 million redevelopment of Brentwood Town Hall is progressing well, exactly a year after Brentwood Borough Council vacated the building.

Our architectural team in Cambridge are developing the project, working as contractor’s architect for Farrans Construction and for the Borough Council as client architect as part of their design team.

The development is set to deliver a new community hub and transform the way the borough council provides services – with Brentwood Borough Council, Essex Police, and community groups delivering services from a single location.

The mixed-use development will also create up to 19 residential units and space for commercial organisations and businesses.

Gavin Presley, Senior Architect at Ingleton Wood Martindales, commented: “This major project is now progressing, with the first phase due for completion in the Spring of 2019. The roof is now going on, so the local community will begin to see the development take shape even more in the coming weeks. As the refurbishment works continue with the installation of new windows, boilers, lifts and major alterations to the layout of the premises, the Borough Council will have a much more efficient and effective space to deliver their services.”

Leader of Brentwood Borough Council, Cllr Louise McKinlay said; “It is good to see the work, plans and design coming together now. The Town Hall which is an iconic building in Brentwood is taking on a new lease of life and the internal changes are impressive. Space and light has been reordered to create a mixed residential, commercial and community environment fit for purpose and more importantly capable of adapting as time and technology reshapes the way we all live and work.”
