Par-fect! Ingleton Wood Charity Golf Day breaks clubhouse record for hospice Tuesday, 15th October 2019

A host of local businesses swung into record-breaking fundraising action at Ingleton Wood’s Charity Golf Day 2019 to raise thousands of pounds for a hospice.

We hosted the annual event at Hintlesham Golf Club in the Suffolk countryside in aid of St Helena Hospice in Colchester.

More than 30 teams made up of Ingleton Wood staff and our clients enjoyed the golf club’s immaculate course conditions near Ipswich – raising £6,873 and setting a new fundraising record for the event.

Teams of four competed for a variety of prizes, including nearest the pin and longest drive, with the best two scores on each hole counting towards the final team total.

A four-ball team from Witham-based Taylor Maxwell held their nerve in the late summer sun to enter the clubhouse as champions, with an unassailable 98 points.

The fundraising golfers were also treated to a dinner before the prize-givings and charity raffle at the end of the evening.

David Cresswell, Partner at Ingleton Wood and a St Helena Hospice Trustee, said: “St Helena Hospice provides truly amazing care and support to local people with life-limiting illnesses and their families, and we feel it is only right that we do what we can to raise awareness and vital funds for the hospice and its incredible staff.

“We are absolutely delighted to have raised a new record amount, and would like to thank all our clients who enjoyed the day and Hintlesham Golf Club for hosting again.”

A St Helena Hospice spokesperson said: “We are extremely grateful to the wonderful team at Ingleton Wood for choosing to raise funds for us again and to all the businesses which took part in another fantastic event.

“We rely heavily on kind-hearted fundraising and the amount raised will help us to continue to provide support to local people facing incurable illness and bereavement in our community.”
