The End of BREEAM 2008 Friday, 6th February 2015

The 2014 version of the BREEAM Non Domestic Refurbishment & Fit Out as of midnight on 16th February will replace the BREEAM 2008 equivalent. However our licensed assessors will still be able to register projects under 2008 after this date if there is a planning requirement under that version of BREEAM.

As with all BREEAM schemes, projects assessed under the scheme can receive a BREEAM rating from Pass to Outstanding, however the certificate will only indicate the building or project parts that have been assessed. The requirement to use a Green Lease Agreement or a Green Building Guide - to capture the element of the development which were not part of the assessed scope of works – will no longer be needed.

The new scheme is more flexible than previous versions as it takes account of the challenges of improving existing buildings. It ensures projects are assessed against the issues that each project can reasonably be expected to influence and not on factors outside of their control. In addition it focuses on getting the project team to work together to meet requirements for issues, and therefore provides a real opportunity to integrate the design and construction process alongside the BREEAM assessor.

Our experienced licensed assessing team and BREEAM Accredited Professionals would be delighted to help you with your requirements, please contact robert.diamond@ingletonwood.co.uk for any questions you may have.
