We have been commended for helping to “maximise the potential” of a new independent living scheme in Norfolk for which we are providing multi-disciplinary services.
Ingleton Wood has been appointed to provide architecture, planning, and mechanical and electrical services for Swallowtail Place in Acle – known as the ‘Gateway to the Broads’.
Supported by Homes England, 58 new affordable homes will be built (41 affordable rent and 17 shared ownership), allowing people aged over 55 with care needs to live independently – creating much-needed housing and enhancing the appearance of the local area.
A recent steel signing event was held to mark the first phase getting under way.
James Francis, Chief Executive at Saffron Housing Trust, who are the landlords for the new scheme, said: “The Swallowtail Place development has been an excellent example of positive partnership working. Ingleton Wood have not only acted as the architect for this important scheme but have also provided planning consultancy services and building services engineering.
“They worked closely with Saffron to develop concept designs and subsequently RG Carter to produce and develop the technical designs for the scheme.
“Ingleton Wood ensured the scheme design really maximised the potential of the site to ensure that for many decades residents enjoy living independently within a great community.”
The scheme consists of one and two-bedroom self-contained flats and with the inclusion of communal spaces such as a lounge, activity room, retail/café space and a hair salon as well as outside areas, residents will remain active in the community.
On-site care and support will also be available 24/7 giving residents and their families peace of mind that support is close to hand if needed.
Director and Architect Andrew Collett said: “We recognise the need to develop modern specialist accommodation within our local communities and our multi-disciplinary services have allowed us to design a fully-inclusive, warm and welcoming development that will allow residents with care needs to live independent lives in high-quality and carefully adapted housing.
“A communal café, a hairdressers and landscaped gardens are set to be among the standout features to help make this development a truly pleasant place to live whilst blending seamlessly into the surrounding environment within the heart of the community. We look forward to progressing our plans with key partners.”
The Swallowtail Place development is due to complete in autumn 2022.
