Ingleton Wood’s expert team of architects helped to convert a residential building into move-on accommodation to support those in need across the Kings Lynn community.
Our Norwich team were appointed as project architects for Alexandra House in Kings Lynn, providing RIBA Plan of Work Stages 1-5 from concept to delivery.
Alexandra House in Dodman’s Close previously offered bed-sits and shared accommodation for residential use. We were appointed to create flat accommodation within the building and deliver a new ground floor flat extension including external works.
The project began in August 2020 and completed in July 2021.
Architect Jordan Knights said: “We have a proven track record of delivering high-quality design services for social housing and residential projects and were pleased to be able to support this important scheme to help vulnerable people within our Norfolk communities.
“We produced a very detailed design package for the main contractors and provided on-site practical advice and live video support to ensure rigorous standards were met.”
Steven Marrison, Senior Architectural Technologist, explained how the team overcame the challenge of soundproofing: “We needed to provide appropriate detailing to consider the upgrades required to achieve adequate sound insulation between the newly formed units.
“In order to satisfy the building inspector, we engaged the services of an acoustic consultant to inspect the building fabric and advise upon appropriate detailing. It was important to ensure the interface between these details was correctly built out to meet the requirements.”
