Hole in one! Ingleton Wood Charity Golf Day 2022 breaks fundraising record in aid of St Helena Hospice Friday, 30th September 2022

We are celebrating after setting a new fundraising record at our annual charity golf day and donating thousands of pounds to St Helena Hospice.

A total of £7,442.69 was raised for the local hospice at the Ingleton Wood Charity Golf Day 2022. Around 120 kind-hearted supporters including teams from our long-standing clients and contractors were in full swing at Hintlesham Golf Club on September 22.

Teams of four competed for a variety of prizes at the popular event, first held in 2016, including ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’, with the best three scores on each hole counting towards the overall total.

David Cresswell, Managing Partner and a St Helena Hospice Trustee, said: “St Helena Hospice provides vital support for local people and their families when they need it most. It is an incredibly worthwhile cause and we are only too happy to do what we can to support them as part of our programme of community events throughout the year.

“We are absolutely delighted to have set another fundraising record again this year. I would like to thank everyone who supported and volunteered to help make the event such a huge success, and we look forward to welcoming you back next year.”

After the golf, supporters enjoyed a BBQ and charity raffle in the clubhouse set amongst the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

James Martin-Whymark, a Support Engagement Fundraiser at St Helena Hospice, also delivered a talk about the vital role the charity plays within the community.

Dr Emma Tempest, Medical Director at St Helena Hospice, said: “We’re so grateful for this incredible support; this impressive amount raised could provide our patients with pain management and relief from complex symptoms for more than 90 hours with help from our team of doctors.

“Our thanks to everyone who took part in the golf day and to Ingleton Wood for an incredible amount raised to help local people face incurable illness and bereavement.”

Colchester-based Hills Building Group was crowned team champions with an impressive 133 points. Jon Mann, Construction Director, said: “We would like to thank Ingleton Wood for organising another fantastic charity golf day in aid of such an important local charity.

“There was a large field taking part and so we were very pleased to win. We look forward to supporting St Helena Hospice again next year and trying to defend the coveted trophy!”

Meanwhile, Will Faulkner from 32 Recruit took home the individual trophy after chalking up 45 points, while Nic Sperin from Richard Utting Associates recorded the longest drive, Ray Gambell from Farrans Construction was nearest to the pin, and Richard Weir, also from Farrans Construction, registered the loudest drive, facilitated by Cass Allen Associates.
