We’re once again celebrating setting a new fundraising course record in aid of St Helena Hospice after another successful charity golf day.
Over 120 kind-hearted supporters from long-standing clients and contractors clubbed together for the popular event at Hintlesham Golf Club on September 14 and raised a total of £8,021.88.
The funds raised allows the Colchester-based hospice to provide essential services and support local people face incurable illness and bereavement, supporting them, their families, friends and carers.
David Cresswell, Managing Partner at Ingleton Wood and a St Helena Hospice Trustee, said: “It was an absolute honour to once again be able to support St Helena Hospice and the vital services they provide for local people and their families when they need it most. The work they carry out is essential and we are more than happy to be able to support them as part of our annual programme of community events.
“We are thrilled to have once again set another fundraising record and we would like to wholeheartedly thank everyone who attended and supported the event. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year and trying to set a new record for the eighth consecutive year.”
A total of 32 teams of four competed for a variety of prizes at the event, first held in 2016, including the traditional ‘longest drive’ competition, sponsored by Survey Solutions, and ‘loudest drive’, sponsored by Pace Consult. The overall scoring was calculated with a total of the best three scores per hole counting towards the team’s total.
Competitors also had the opportunity to assess their technique as Blank Space Create filmed everyone swing on the sixth hole.
After the golf, supporters enjoyed a two-course sit down meal and charity raffle in the clubhouse set amongst the beautiful Suffolk countryside. Captain Graham Miller, an ambassador for St Helena Hospice, delivered a talk about the vital role the charity plays within the community.
Marcus Poston, Partnerships Fundraising Manager at St Helena Hospice, said: “We at St Helena would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Ingleton Wood for their continued support and amazing annual golf day. The funds raised year on year support the services St Helena provide to patients and their families of north east Essex facing incurable illness and bereavement.”
The team from Manningtree-based Rose Builders were crowned champions on the day, closely followed by Millane and Bauder in second and third.
Steven Rose, Construction Director at Rose Builders, said: “The Ingleton Wood Charity Golf Day was an excellent event and ran smoothly from start to finish. It was an extremely enjoyable day for all participants and most importantly, raised significant funds for the St Helena Hospice. We can’t wait to come back next year to defend our title!”
The awards didn’t stop there for Rose Builders, with Andy Bowles taking home the individual trophy with an impressive 47 points, while Luke Quinton from Millane recorded the longest drive, and Adam Aley from Conrad Consulting registered the loudest drive.
