Students and staff members at Highworth Grammar School in Ashford, Kent, celebrated the beginning of an exciting new building project with a groundbreaking ceremony. The event marked the start of the development of much needed additional classroom space and a new study area to meet the demands of the ever-growing sixth form.
The event also provided the opportunity for a number of students with an interest in architecture to find out more about the planning and development involved in such a project.
Highworth Grammar School has appointed Ingleton Wood, a leading property and construction consultancy based in Colchester, to help design and deliver the new sustainable, modern teaching block to support its development plans.
The Practice is providing multi-disciplinary services including architecture, project management, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) design, and structural and civil engineering.

Duncan Beer, Headteacher at Highworth Grammar School, made the first ceremonial dig to mark the start of this exciting new development for the school, said: “After years of careful planning, we are delighted that this new building project can now commence. The school community will benefit greatly from the additional classroom space and study area for our growing sixth form.”
