Budding apprentices at property and construction consultancy Ingleton Wood have praised their “amazing” practical qualifications after the Practice increased its number of apprentices to almost 20. The multidisciplinary Practice is calling on the next wave of construction professionals to consider a different route into the industry by offering apprenticeships, including Level 6 and 7 degree apprenticeships, to people of all ages and backgrounds. This year’s National Apprenticeship Week (5th – 11th February) follows the same overarching theme as 2023 focusing on ‘Skills for Life’ with more focused daily themes taking place throughout the week. The past 12 months at Ingleton Wood has been a fantastic year of growth and development for the 19 apprentices. Ingleton Wood welcomed four new apprentices in 2023: Ben Harris (Quantity Surveying), Joshua Brown (Building Services Engineer), Ryan Dennis (Building Services Engineer) and Henry Bell (Building Services Engineer), while three current apprentices celebrated qualifying and completing their courses: Priyanka Shah (Architecture), Brandon Cook (Building Surveying) and Callum McGinn (Building Services Engineering). Reflecting on the completion of her Level 7 Architecture Apprenticeship at our Norwich office, Priyanka Shah, Project Architect, said: “It has been a long journey but I feel a profound sense of achievement. “The great thing about an apprenticeship is that I didn’t have to worry about finding employment or think about ‘what’s next’ after university, because I’m already here at Ingleton Wood as a fully-fledged architect with the benefits of a natural, gradual transition. “For those looking to get into the industry I think the apprenticeship route, under the guidance of experienced architects, will help to accelerate career progression.” Callum McGinn, Building Services Design Engineer, also took the time to reflect on the completion of his Level 6 Building Services Engineering apprenticeship at our Colchester office, saying: “Working in the building services sector while studying an apprenticeship allows you to get a great understanding of the working environment and has helped to build my confidence in managing my own projects and workloads. “Ingleton Wood has been very helpful and supportive through my apprenticeship by offering sufficient time off for studies and exams and providing supportive mentors throughout my time at London South Bank University." Ruby Oxley, Business Administration Apprentice, is currently completing a Business Administration apprenticeship with our Colchester team, when asked about her experience she said: “My experience has been so rewarding, I’ve had so much support and been able to learn a vast range of knowledge and skills that will support me throughout my career. It really is the perfect opportunity to gain experience while learning, build your own character and meet some really great people. “My advice for anyone considering an apprenticeship would be to go for it, and always have confidence in yourself.” The celebrations will continue throughout 2024 with a further seven apprentices at Ingleton Wood due to undertake their End Point Assessments this year. Apprenticeships provide a fantastic alternative to the traditional university route by providing individuals with the real-life skills and experience that are gained through working within a Practice. Throughout their apprenticeships two of Ingleton Wood’s Building Services Engineers Harry White and Sam Boone had the opportunity to work on the design of the Roundhouse Works Project, which won the Energy Project of the Year – Retail, Commercial, Industrial at the 2023 Energy Awards. Ingleton Wood is currently reviewing their apprenticeship vacancies for September 2024. For more information visit www.ingletonwood.co.uk/opportunities or email recruitment@ingletonwood.co.uk. |
