Ingleton Wood Clinches Double Win at Norfolk Construction Excellence Awards 2024 Friday, 10th May 2024

Ingleton Wood, a leading multi-disciplinary property and construction consultancy practice has proudly clinched two prestigious awards at this year's highly anticipated Norfolk Constructing Excellence (NCEC) Awards 2024.

Hosted at the impressive Epic Studios Broadcast in Norwich, the NCEC awards continue to celebrate the best of the construction industry in the Norfolk area and shine a light on the incredible building and regeneration projects taking place across the County.

Ingleton Wood emerged triumphant from this year's awards with two accolades recognising excellence and innovation in two distinct categories; ‘Regeneration and Retrofit’ and ‘Residential Project of the Year’.

Andrew Collett, PgDip PMA RIBA, Director - Architect at Ingleton Wood, commented on what these awards mean to the Practice:

“We are extremely proud to have played our part in multiple award-winning submissions for The Construction Excellence Awards in Norfolk this year.

These winning projects highlight our commitment to collaborative working and further showcase the importance and impact of our business values, as we deliver sustainable building solutions for our clients.

We would like to thank all the client teams involved in bringing these projects to life, and look forward to working together in the coming year!”

The winning Regeneration and Retrofit project: South Norfolk Council and Broadland District Council | Public Sector Decarbonisation Programme.

Funded via the Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme, this project focused on reducing CO2e emissions through the removal of gas-fuelled heating systems at selected Council buildings; a leisure centre, temporary accommodation, and the two council's HQ buildings.

With only one year to design, procure, award contracts, obtain planning permission, mobilise, and complete on-site, the multiple-technology scheme required careful coordination between contractors, Ingleton Wood, and the Council teams leading the project. This ensured the programme of work was delivered to specification, with minimal impact to the building occupants from heating and hot-water downtime and the general disruption of construction activities.

Debbie Lorimer, Director of Resources for South Norfolk and Broadland Councils congratulated Ingleton Wood on the award win:

“Congratulations to Ingleton Wood on their very well-deserved award. Both South Norfolk and Broadland Councils have pledged to be Net Zero by 2030 and with the help of Ingleton Wood, and the installation of modern heat pumps and solar panels, we are well on our way to achieving that goal.  I must also thank Salix for its grant of £2 million that made the project possible”.

The winning Residential Project of the Year: Lovell Partnerships Ltd | Bowlers Green, Hopton-on-Sea

Bowlers Green, the second development in NCEC's strategic partnership with Repton Property Developments, is a new development located in the popular seaside village of Hopton-on-Sea, featuring a stylish collection of 200 two-four bedroom houses and bungalows. The new homes include 140 for open market sale, and 60 for affordable housing through Flagship Homes and split between rent and shared ownership models.

Ingleton Wood’s in-house Architectural and Planning teams were integral to the design and implementation of this development at Bowlers Green.

Working closely with the Local Authority and other key stakeholders, Ingleton Wood provided an attractive design that is compliant with current standards as well as meeting an identified housing need in the area.

Each of the dwellings is designed with sustainability in mind and utilise a “fabric first” approach to ensure that all dwellings are insulated for full thermal efficiency. Future provisions for air source heat pumps were made by increasing plant room sizes, allowing for adequate private amenity space to locate external fan units.
