Ingleton Wood is proud to have completed significant improvement works at the Forest Academy in Brandon, Suffolk, resulting in improved thermal performance and modernised amenities.
As part of the upgrades, the existing deteriorated timber-framed single-glazed windows and doors were replaced with new, double-glazed aluminium units.
These window replacement works, funded through a successful CIF (Condition Improvement Fund) application, presented a unique challenge. Ingleton Wood was tasked with replicating the original timber sash window style while navigating the complex alterations needed due to differences in frame profiles.
The end result not only maintained the school’s character but also significantly improved the building's energy efficiency by enhancing the U-values of the windows.
In addition to the window replacements, the existing boys' toilets were refurbished and transformed into a new unisex facility.
This upgrade, funded directly by the school as part of its annual maintenance programme, included new cubicles, sanitaryware, and finishes.
April Grimes, Head at the Forest Academy, commented on the enhancement works delivered by Ingleton Wood;
“We are all delighted with the improvement works delivered by the Ingleton Wood team. The replacement windows beautifully preserve the character of our school while significantly enhancing our energy efficiency, and the new unisex WC facilities have modernised our amenities. These upgrades have made a noticeable difference for both our students and our staff, and we appreciate the expertise and care Ingleton Wood brought to the project.”
Ingleton Wood provided both Building Surveying and Mechanical & Electrical engineering (M&E) services for the project, which has provided the Forest Academy with upgraded facilities that benefit both the staff and students.
This project highlights Ingleton Wood’s commitment to improving education environments through thoughtful design, expert services, and sustainable solutions.
