The UK Government has just published its Climate Adaptation Research and Innovation Framework – a strategic vision to shape how we respond to climate risks across the built and natural environment through to 2035.
This framework highlights:
“Buildings should be healthy and comfortable places to spend time in all year round. This means warm in winter, cool in summer and resilient to climate hazards such as flooding. The building stock includes residential and non-residential buildings, such as commercial buildings (offices and factories) and public buildings like schools, prisons and hospitals” (CCC, 2023).
The overall goal is clear: buildings need to be fit for the future, and adapted for the current and future climate.
- Buildings should not overheat
- Buildings should be prepared for flooding
- Buildings are resilient to other climate risks
Ingleton Wood are already supporting clients to meet these goals.
From net-zero new builds and school expansions to listed building retrofits and flood-resilient housing schemes, our multidisciplinary teams are well positioned to support the priorities laid out in the Framework.
With expertise spanning architecture, building services, sustainability, and project management, we deliver environmentally benign, future-ready solutions that create healthy, resilient spaces for people and their communities.
We welcome this Framework as a timely and important call to action, and we’re proud to help turn its vision into real-world impact.
