Ingleton Wood were delighted to attend this year’s Independent Schools' Bursars Association (ISBA) Conference in Manchester, where we enjoyed connecting with school leaders, trustees, and education sector professionals from across The UK.
Throughout the event, we had the opportunity to engage in meaningful conversations that explored the evolving needs of the independent school sector. These productive discussions reinforced just how vital it is for schools to adapt and optimise their estates in response to increasing financial, operational, and environmental pressures.

A recurring theme across the conference was the importance of maximising existing assets. Many schools are looking to repurpose and retrofit their current estates, making smarter use of space while reducing costs and carbon footprints. We were pleased to showcase how Ingleton Wood’s multidisciplinary expertise, from masterplanning and feasibility studies to planning, retrofitting, and repurposing, are helping schools optimise their site.
Peter Webb, Partner at Ingleton Wood, emphasised our practice’s commitment to helping education-sector clients navigate evolving challenges:
“In today’s climate of financial uncertainty, it’s more important than ever for independent schools to make the most of their estates. Ingleton Wood’s in-house education specialists are uniquely placed to support clients in rethinking, repurposing, and retrofitting their facilities, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and readiness for the future needs of students.”
