Ingleton Wood’s Cherry Hinton Library & Community Hub wins Building Services Project of the Year at H&V News Awards 2025 Thursday, 27th November 2025

The 2025 H&V News Awards, the flagship event recognising outstanding achievements of the HVAC sector, revealed its winners during a prestigious ceremony attended by industry leaders, innovators, and rising stars from across the sector, and we are delighted that the Cherry Hinton Library & Community Hub has won the Building Services Project of the Year category.

Held in front of a packed audience, the awards honoured the organisations, projects, and individuals driving net zero progress and technical excellence across the built environment, and this recognition celebrates outstanding engineering design, technical innovation, and excellence in building services delivery; all central to this transformative community project.

Judges praised the development for its impact, expertise, and commitment to excellence.

Speaking at the ceremony, H&V News editor, Ella Mackenzie said:

“It was an honour to host these awards for the first time, and see the diverse range of talented professionals and incredible projects being undertaken across every corner of the UK, from small residential installations to huge industrial retrofits.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their work with us this year, both through their awards entries and through articles and case studies featured in the magazine. It’s been a pleasure to hear from you all, and I look forward to seeing what you accomplish in 2026."

Anni Folan-White, Partner at Ingleton Wood, commented:

“This award is a testament to the power of collaborative engineering and design. Cherry Hinton Hub demonstrates that when technical excellence is paired with community purpose, the result can be both highly efficient and deeply meaningful.

We’re proud to have played a key role in delivering a space that will serve residents for many years to come.”

Ingleton Wood’s multidisciplinary contribution

Working alongside project partners, Ingleton Wood provided comprehensive multidisciplinary services across each stage of the development, including:

  • Architecture & Lead Design
  • Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Engineering
  • Structural & Civil Engineering
  • CDM advisory services

Our teams worked collaboratively to deliver a technically robust, energy-efficient and user-focused facility that enhances local services and supports long-term community needs.

Delivering a modern, connected community space

The final scheme reimagines the former library into a vibrant, inclusive environment featuring:

  • A modern, light-filled library, redesigned for accessibility and flexibility
  • A welcoming community café
  • Multi-use meeting and activity rooms
  • Improvements to the external landscaping and community garden

Sustainability and building performance were central considerations, with our M&E engineers delivering high-efficiency systems designed to reduce operational energy use and improve comfort for visitors and staff.

Celebrating a team effort

We extend our congratulations to all contributors and community stakeholders involved in bringing the Cherry Hinton Community Hub to life. It is an honour to see the project recognised at a national level for its engineering and building services excellence.
