Ingleton Wood were delighted to exhibit again at the Listed Property Show at London Olympia, joining property owners, custodians, and specialists for two days focused on the care, repair, and sensitive adaptation of historic and culturally significant buildings.
As a multidisciplinary practice with extensive heritage and conservation expertise, the show offered an excellent opportunity to engage directly with owners managing older and listed properties, while also attending the broad range of conference sessions on offer.
These sessions highlighted the importance of informed decision-making and reinforced the challenges we regularly address across our heritage portfolio, from private homes and estates to schools, cultural venues, public assets, and complex historic sites.
Renewable energy and listed buildings
A particular highlight of this year’s show was Peter Webb’s conference session on heating and renewable energy options for listed buildings, which explored how performance improvements can be achieved without compromising historic character.
The session sparked many thoughtful questions from visitors, reflecting the same passion Ingleton Wood brings to our heritage projects.
Peter Webb, Partner at Ingleton Wood and specialist in heritage projects, commented:
“It was a pleasure to speak again at the Listed Property Show about heating and renewable energy options for listed buildings. The level of engagement and thoughtful questions highlighted how committed owners are to improving performance while respecting heritage, and with the Government’s recent £1.5bn investment in heritage and cultural buildings, these conversations feel timelier than ever.”

Thomas McCosker, Ingleton Wood’s Principal Sustainability Specialist, attended this year’s show, and commented:
“Attending the Listed Property Show provided valuable insight into the challenges owners face when improving energy performance in historic buildings. Engaging with passionate heritage property owners highlighted real-world dilemmas; the conference sessions reinforced the importance of understanding traditional construction before considering retrofit or renewable technologies, showing that performance can be enhanced without compromising heritage significance.”
Sarah Johnson, Senior Sustainability Specialist at Ingleton Wood, also attended the show, and highlighted:
“What stood out across the show was how many people want to improve the environmental performance of their historic properties but are unsure which options are appropriate. Events like this are important for sharing clear, experience-led guidance and showing how sensitive, sustainable improvements can support both long-term care and occupant comfort.”
