Our very own Iain Bramhill, Senior Associate Architect based at our Billericay office recently completed the Screwball Rally 2015, one of Europe’s legendary driving challenges.
Each car travelled through 9 European countries in a car valued less than £750, covering 2,500 miles from Dover to Dunkirk, consisting of 8 hours of driving per day on 2-hour rotations. Although the late nights and early mornings took their toll, the team experienced some breath-taking views at such as Lake Como and safely navigating their way through the Alps via the Sploogal Pass, a notorious series of hairpin bends over 10 miles with a sheer drop as seen in the film, The Italian Job. After 4 days of driving, miraculously all 85 cars completed the challenge without any incidents. All those that participated raised a combined total of £163k for their chosen charities, with Iain’s team of 3 raising just over £5k, in aid of Hands at Work in Africa UK. Most funds raised were via corporate sponsorship including Ingleton Wood who were proud to show support for such a worthy cause. On behalf of Iain and his team, we would like to thank all those that have donated, if would still like to donate, please visit the team’s Just Giving page here. Watch this space to see if the team conquer the South America driving challenge next year! |
