Ingleton Wood were appointed to prepare a feasibility scheme for the development of a new building and substantial redevelopment of the existing School buildings to allow an additional form of entry. The feasibility provided an architectural master plan for the site and budget costing. The feasibility allowed a successful bid for funding from Southend Borough Council and we were appointed to take the development through to completion.
The development was in three distinct phases over three years. The first phase required the refurbishment and modernisation of several science classrooms. The second phase was the design and construction of a three storey new build classroom block. The final phase saw the refurbishment and modalisation of other affected areas in the school.
The proposals required considerable thought to enable the works on a live and compact site. The scheme also necessitated complex structural design to accommodate an older building which had undergone a great deal of previous works. The project showcased Ingleton Wood’s architectural prowess to provide a contemporary building which was also in keeping with the street scene. The new class areas also have the latest mechanical and electrical installations with comfort cooling and interactive teaching walls. The project was completed within the budget originally outlined within our feasibility.
