Ingleton Wood has been appointed for this significant project on the waterfront in Ipswich. Construction started on this 20-storey, 150 flat residential building in 2007, but work stopped when the developer and contractor went into liquidation leaving only the concrete frame completed. The frame resembles a winerack, and as this has been a significant feature on the Ipswich skyline for so long, the name has stuck.
Ingleton Wood were appointed late 2014 as a multidisciplinary consultancy to assist the new building owner to complete the project. The designs were modified and completed and tenders obtained for the construction contract.
Carters were appointed as contractors and work recommenced on site in early 2018. The building will be completed in phases between spring and December 2019.
The building is located on a restricted site and so incorporates an 8-storey, 260 space fully automated car stacker system.
The completion of this important building will be a significant achievement and will enhance the rapidly growing quayside area of Ipswich town.
