Ingleton Wood has been appointed for this significant project on the waterfront in Ipswich.
Construction started on this 20-storey, 150 flat residential building in 2007, but work stopped when the developer and contractor went into liquidation leaving only the concrete frame completed. The frame resembles a winerack, and as this has been a significant feature on the Ipswich skyline for so long, the name has stuck.
Ingleton Wood were appointed late 2014 as a multidisciplinary consultancy to assist the new building owner to complete the project. The designs were modified and completed, and tenders obtained for the construction contract. The building is located on a restricted site and so incorporates an 8-storey, 260 space fully automated car stacker system.
The completion of this important building will be a significant achievement and will enhance the rapidly growing quayside area of Ipswich town.
